The Customer
Expendo is an on-demand wireless optimization solution, their goal is to help companies save money on wireless services. Their aim is to transform how mobile services are managed. Expendo hired dbSeer to help optimize their process and better automate solutions for their clients in order to streamline their operations.
The Opportunity
dbSeer collaborated with two of Expendo’s network providers, AT&T and Verizon, to analyze raw data or customer invoices and assess how customers were using various plan features in their companies.
dbSeer provided the ability for the customer to either upload:
- Raw data dump (available on the provider portals)
- Customer invoice
Using AWS technologies, dbSeer was able to generate actionable insights that Expendo could deliver to their clients, in turn highlighting opportunities for optimizing plan usage and reducing costs.
The Solutions
With access to this sheer amount of raw data, dbSeer got to work. Our goal is to provide actionable insight enabling Expendo to deliver accurate reports to their clients. From this data, dbSeer generated optimization reports that identified cost-saving opportunities for Expendo’s clients.
For instance, the data could demonstrate when employees were not using their plans, dbSeer therefore suggested terminating the plan or transferring the number to someone else in the company. We were also able to break down additional features and their usage, such as shared data pooling, where a company buys a pool of data for the purpose of shared use. We could analyze and see if there were certain individuals who used minutes more in comparison to others, and offer solutions for certain individuals who might benefit from an unlimited plan, for better cost efficiency.
For processing invoice data, we processed the PDF file using an OCR and extracted the raw data from the invoices. The invoice file contains data about the users, their plans, their data and voice usage, any additional features being used by the user.This allowed us to generate detailed reports, providing a data-backed approach for plan optimization.
The Results
- Automating the process.
- Prior to dbSeer helping analyze the data, Expendo was doing this process manually. They would sort the raw data into an Excel sheet to analyze and build their reports. This process would take hours for an individual employee to do this. Now, dbSeer has built a centralized portal where Expendo can upload the raw data or PDF files, automating the entire process. The portal replicates the same steps, but now the reports are generated in just 30 minutes, saving time and improving efficiency for Expendo to focus on what matters: delivering solutions for their clients.
- Leveraging AWS technology.
- dbSeer was able to give Expendo the ability to provide their clients with a dashboard summary, showing the estimated monthly savings based on recommended plan adjustments. dbSeer offered cutting-edge technology provided by AWS infrastructure. Data processing is handled by AWS Glue- a serverless data integration service that efficiently manages data workflows. Raw files are uploaded to Amazon S3, Glue retrieves and processes the data before it goes to a centralized database.
