The Customer
Founded in 2011, Subject7 addresses the need for a robust software test automation platform. Subject7’s platform is a no-coding, cloud-based automated testing solution for web and mobile applications. Subject7’s platform is easy to implement and learn, with the scale of an enterprise product. This cloudbased SaaS platform is designed to scale and be used by non-developers, as well as developers, to improve speed to market and increase operational efficiency.
The Opportunity
Subject7’s testing platform supports high volume, critical business applications and offers flexible pricing models to fit users’ specific needs. Subject7 architecture supports a hybrid of multi-tenant Virtual Machines (VMs) and a set of dedicated VMs for each client. Utilization of dedicated tenants is dependent to the number of tests each client runs. Subject7 was seeking the most optimal resource allocation and architecture in their AWS platform.
Our cost savings were so substantial, that we were able to recoup our investment in dbSeer’s services in only two months.
The Solutions
“dbSeer took less than a week to analyze our architecture and provide a report with the most optimal resource allocation and architecture changes. We were impressed with dbSeer’s professional presentation that included a high level of detail and accurate estimates of effort and cost for each action item. dbSeer showed us how much we could save if we proceeded with their recommendations, as well as the impacts to our technology and costs in both the short-term and long-term,” stated Rex Feizi, Co-Founder & CTO, Subject7.
The Results
In the first phase, dbSeer restructured and optimized Subject7’s resource allocation as well as their architecture. As a result, Subject7’s costs decreased by nearly forty-five percent. dbSeer first precisely identified Subject7’s compute usage, then determined how they could use AWS more efficiently.
Fast Time to ROI
“Our cost savings were so substantial, that we were able to recoup our investment in dbSeer’s services in only two months,” explained Mr. Feizi.
Hybrid, Phased Approach
“The second phase will reduce our costs oven further. Recommendations included a special queuing system using Amazon SQS. However, we didn’t have the resources to implement all of the recommendations immediately, so dbSeer came up with a hybrid plan to assist our transition. With this approach, we were able to reduce costs by purchasing some reserved instances immediately. Thanks to the smart the way dbSeer calculated it, we can save and continue implementation in a few months.
The results have been amazing, and exceeded my expectations for sure!” concluded Mr. Feizi.
